A 20 m single axis carrying six transparent screens on a 500 kg servo carriage, owned from mechanical design through drive sizing to commissioning. The design decision that shaped the system: playback is indexed to absolute encoder position rather than to a clock, so the overlay stays registered to the locomotive behind it and error cannot accumulate — which in turn set the requirement for battery-free multi-turn absolute feedback and a power-off-activated brake. Permanent install, maintained on a scheduled PM cycle since handover.

Converted a manually operated overhead crane into a fully automatic system carrying a 60 kg armature. PLC logic control rather than a servo bus, because the requirement is point-to-point positioning with arrival detection and interlocks. Backlash and pendulum swing made the end position oscillate, so the fix came from the control side — S-curve ramps, creep speed on approach, and final convergence against three laser range finders rather than motor feedback. Sixty taught points normalised into a lookup table so the calibration can be re-verified rather than repeated from scratch.

A three-version electromechanical apparatus built around a closed feedback loop. v3 drives a brass plate with coordinated stepper motors, solenoids, and pneumatic actuators, coupled to a real-time neural-audio engine; a k-means stage redistributes the output across five voices. Design work centered on keeping the loop stable — actuator sequencing, mechanical settling time, and latency budget between sensing and actuation. v2 rendered the system across a 49.4-channel Ambisonics array, the first real-time neural-audio deployment at that scale in Taiwan.

A fully self-designed, self-fabricated analog system: one master board and twelve sub-boards sharing a common control-voltage bus and power distribution. Schematics and PCB layouts drawn from scratch and hand-etched. The engineering problem was holding control voltages accurate across thirteen boards — bus loading, crosstalk between adjacent voices, and supply decoupling — diagnosed board by board on the bench.

A real-time distributed sensing system in which every smartphone is a networked node. An iOS / Android application runs on-device YOLO object detection while six UWB beacons resolve each device to centimeter-level position in a shared coordinate frame; a PGD adversarial-perturbation pipeline is applied to inference as a controlled, reproducible failure mode for studying detector behaviour at its limits.

A site-specific iOS application localized by machine vision rather than markers. I surveyed the building corridor with a dense photographic capture and processed it into a 3D feature map (Area Target); at runtime the device estimates 6-DoF pose by matching live camera frames against that map, holding virtual geometry registered to the physical structure while the user walks. Work focused on capture coverage and lighting consistency at survey time, and on drift and re-localization behaviour in corridors with repeating, low-texture surfaces.

A VR installation carried by two custom hardware subsystems: a CO₂ / O₂ delivery system that drives the environment on a controlled respiratory cycle, and a 3D-printed haptic mechanism designed to mount directly onto the headset within its weight and balance limits. Built around a deliberately incomplete Ambisonics array, with the gaps treated as a designed property of the system rather than a defect. Delivery lines were leak-checked by soap test and pressure decay before the piece ran.
